Panza del burro (donkeys belly)

I am back in Gran Canaria for my summer holidays! I just finished my placement at Microsoft, amazing year left behind, alot of personal and professional development and some really touching memories. So I’m back here and its a whopping 35 degrees! the canary islands are on orange alert now due to the heat. The islands are also under a fantastic meteorologic event called «Panza del burro», this happens when the winds blow the clouds against the northern mountains and push them down towards earth, so a low layer of clouds cover the islands and behave as a solar panel. When the clouds clash against the mountains, it causes horizontal rain which fertilizes the ground and induces the vegetation growth, as for the rest of the island… we die in heat!

You can see a little bit of it .. the sky goes from light blue to white.. earlier in the morning and when I was landing, i was passing through a massive blanket of clouds and the rest of the island is sunny with white skies.. not a pleasant feeling!
