This is how Mr Mogambo came to be. It was the summer of 2010 and the heat was unbearable. The sun was scorching and the humidity was suffocating. I was stuck inside with nothing to do, feeling bored out of my mind. I had tried everything to pass the time, from reading books to binge-watching TV shows, but nothing seemed to hold my attention.
As I lay on my bed, staring up at the ceiling fan spinning lazily above me, an idea suddenly struck me. I had always been fascinated by stop-motion animation, and I realized that this was the perfect time to try my hand at it. I grabbed my camera and started tinkering around with some objects on my desk.
The birth of Mr Mogambo
Soon, a little character began to take shape. He was a tiny, green creature with a potbelly and wild, bushy hair. I named him Mr. Mogambo. I spent hours moving him around, taking countless pictures of his every movement.
But something was missing. The video felt incomplete without music. That’s when I remembered a song I had recently heard called “Ni Nachle”. It was a lively Bollywood track with a catchy beat that I knew would be perfect for Mr Mogambo’s antics.
So, I set to work editing my stop motion footage to the rhythm of the song. It was a painstaking process, but I was determined to make it work. I carefully synced Mr Mogambo’s movements to the beat of the music, and before long, my little creation was dancing and grooving in time with the music.
As I watched the final product, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over me. I had created something fun and entertaining, all while beating the summer boredom. Mr Mogambo may have been a small creation, but he had helped me pass the time and discover a new hobby in the process.
